Port Denarau Marina chief executive officer, Nigel Skeggs said the investment put into the Fiji International Jazz and Blues Festival will reap financial benefits.
“So far, in cash, between the marina and commercial centre, we have put in an investment of $60,000, and about $40,000 in other ways, so altogether in the vicinity of $100,000. What we anticipate, and are concentrating on, are the long term returns and not just instantaneous ones.
“We’ve put everything into this event, especially it being the first of its kind. From what we see so far, the branding it has will create for Denarau and Fiji, as a whole, great advantages that will remain after the event ends,” said Mr Skeggs.
Visitors to the event are from the reaches of Switzerland, Germany, the Americas and Australia. A large contingent is expected from New Zealand as most of the performing artists are from there.
Mr Skeggs is confident that the festival will be back bigger and better next year.
