Fiji’s premier and only superyacht marina has once again been recognised at an international stage for its efforts in promoting tourism and providing a world-class marina service to a range of customers.
Port Denarau Marina which has been awarded twice as the “Best International Marina” by Marina Industries Association (MIA) between the years 2015 to 2018, has yet achieved another milestone by being inducted in the MIA Hall of Fame at the Marinas19 Gala Dinner held on the Gold Coast on May 28.
The announcement of the awards came at the conclusion of a most successful Marinas19 International Conference and Trade Show that attracted 300 participants.
“Our induction into the Hall of Fame is a great achievement not just for us as a marina operator but the entire country,” general manager Cynthia Rasch said.
“Since 2015, our efforts and facilities have been consistently recognised both internationally and locally as the marina continues to grow from strength to strength on improving our services and facilities,” Ms Rasch added.
“We are proud of our team and the hard work they put in raising Port Denarau Marina to international standards.
“In February this year, we were also recognised at the prestigious Fiji Excellence in Tourism Awards (FETA) and the induction in the MIA Hall of Fame this month is an added bonus and a great motivation for our entire team.”
Ms Cynthia Rasch was also awarded her “Certified Marina Manager” certificate and badge at the MIA Conference.
Echoing similar sentiment, Marina Industries Association (MIA) chairman Andrew Chapman said Port Denarau has impressively developed from its humble beginnings to a high end multi-use international marina facility catering for commercial vessels through to superyacht berthing; haul-out facilities and boatyard operations.
“The marina has a strong focus on customer service, a dedicated team of staff and are actively involved within the extended community and environmental initiatives,” Mr Chapman said.
“Cynthia Rasch as a newly ‘Certified Marina Manager’ has proven herself as a valuable asset to both Port Denarau Marina and the wider Fijian community as well.”
Founded in 1999, Port Denarau Marina has emerged from humble beginnings to grow and develop alongside Fiji’s burgeoning tourism industry into a high-end multiuse marina facility.
The marina is located just 20 minutes’ drive from the Nadi International Airport, on Denarau Island, the Pacific’s largest integrated island resort.
Port Denarau Marina employs 23 people in their marina operations with direct and indirect employment of over hundreds in the marine related businesses.
With the marinas focus on the importance of protecting the marine and natural environment in a way that makes good business sense, Port Denarau Marina is the only marina in the Pacific Islands to be accredited an “International Level 3 Clean” and “Fish Friendly Marina” status.
