I wanted to let you know that Port Denarau Marina has partnered with Sea Mercy (a US and Fiji based non-profit charity) of which I am now an overseeing trustee. I am very passionate about this organization not only because of the incredible programs it provides the thousands of “at risk” remote islands in the South Pacific, but for the amazing role that the international yachting community gets to play in each program.
I would like to encourage you (and your vessel/crew) to consider playing a role (minor or major) in one or more of these incredible programs. I have included three website links for information about each program. If you see one (or more) that interest you, contact me to discuss ways we can work together to help make a difference on these remote islands.
First Response Fleet – Emergency Response & Recovery assistance for the neglected remote islands following natural disasters (cyclones, earthquakes, tsunamis) in the South Pacific. We’ll even provide professional disaster assistance response training for your crew (no charge).
Global Mercy Armada – Economic Development training and implementation programs for the remote islands to help them to not only become self-sustaining, but to thrive in their remote environment.
Floating Health Care Clinic – Bringing consistent and comprehensive free medical, dental and eye care services to the remote islands that do not have access to such services.
Whether or not you will be cruising in the South Pacific in 2016, there are ways you can help these programs succeed and I would enjoy discussing them with you (call or email me).
All the best to you.
